Abstract:

Surreal numbers are a superset of the real number line, including infinite and infinitesimal values. Although it shares many properties of other extensions of the reals, it has a number of unique and very powerful features, including being the "largest" possible extension of R. The purpose of this talk is to give a brief overview of the surreals, and demonstrate how Calculus would look in this intriguing number system.
