Spring 2009 Conference of the Mathematical Association of America Seaway Section, hosted by the Rochester Institute of Technology Mathematics Department, April 3-4, 2009.
Surreal numbers are a superset of the real number line, including infinite and infinitesimal values. Although it shares many properties of other extensions of the reals, it has a number of unique and very powerful features, including being the "largest" possible extension of R. The purpose of this talk is to give a brief overview of the surreals, and demonstrate how Calculus would look in this intriguing number system..
