$60 USD

Requirements: Two computers, desk or portable; One monitor with VGA port. For Macs with DVI-I port, needs a VGA to DVI cable. Linux, Mac OS X 10.3 or later, Windows 2000 or later.

Contains: User Guide; Flip device and battery; base and octopus cable; extra audio extension cable. Fastener strip for the Remote. 3-year warranty.

Strengths: Cross-platform OS independent. 2-computer-one monitor, keyboard, mouse design. No software needed.

Weaknesses: This unit does not support DVI ports directly. The remote needs to be within 10 feet of the base system.

ÒKVMÓ is Keyboard, Video, Mouse. I used one at work to switch between a Dell and an HP system with one monitor and it required double-clicking certain not-too-often used keys and combination in order to go between systems.

With the Flip Wireless USB, the battery-operated button toggles from either the green side or the yellow side instead of doing the key combo. The earlier system also required driver software and this one does not. ThatÕs right, no software needed.

And the pictures shown here are all wrong. The Remote is wireless.

The Flip unit (Remote) indicates which system is ÒonÓ with a bicolor LED and works on Channel 1.

Video resolution supported is up to 2049x1536 at 65Hz.

The octopus cable length is 2 foot (green side), 6 feet (yellow side)(.6 meter and 1.8 meter) with one-foot hangers for USB and audio.

If you want to flip for a KVM, look no further.

For $85 USD there is also a Flip designed for use with Mac Minis.
